The Verified Web
Verification is most useful when its scope is explicit. Proof that a party controls or is authorized for a domain is different from proof that every statement on the domain is true. Provenance and longitudinal observation add another layer: inspectable evidence about what GoGuides observed and when.
What verification can establish
Domain-control evidence
Supported verification can establish that accepted proof-of-control or authorization evidence was presented for a domain.
Record linkage
Verification context can be associated with the corresponding GoGuides public record and history.
Machine-readable status
Automated consumers can inspect supported verification context without relying only on a visual badge.
What verification does not establish
Domain control is not a universal truth, safety, quality, reputation, or endorsement certificate. A verified controller can still publish inaccurate, outdated, unsafe, or disputed material. Consuming systems remain responsible for their own ranking, safety, citation, and source-use decisions.
Provenance adds observable history
GoGuides can preserve independently observed website state over time: requested and final URLs, response behavior, canonical identity, content fingerprints, robots evidence, DNS and TLS context, supported web-state fields, and observation chronology.
That history can help distinguish continuity from change. It does not retroactively prove why a change happened or whether a claim is correct.
Record-state fingerprints are identifiers, not ownership proofs
Where GoGuides publishes a SHA-256 record-state fingerprint, the fingerprint identifies the stored GoGuides record state represented by its defined inputs. It is separate from domain-control verification and should not be interpreted as a signature from the website owner.
Human and machine views should point to the same evidence
Public profile
A human-readable view of current GoGuides context.
History
Longitudinal observations and changes that can be inspected over time.
Evaluate and Web State
Structured machine interfaces for supported scope-specific evidence and GoGuides interpretation.
Deterministic favicon
A compact record-state visualization tied to supported resolved inputs, not a stand-alone certificate.
Why this matters in an AI-readable web
Automated systems often need to resolve identity, freshness, continuity, and source context before deciding whether to retrieve or use information. Stable, inspectable evidence can reduce ambiguity without requiring the consuming system to accept GoGuides as a universal authority.
